Book Review: A Lot Like Love Series (YA Sexy Contemp)

I don’t read much YA and NA, so when I do. . .

it should be Sexy and Smart as hell.

The A Lot Like Love series really

grabbed me and kept my attention!

(Without giving away mega spoilers)

In Book One a new love begins between an alpha football player

who has really really really had a rough childhood.

This cutey meets an unlikely (yet quirky) girl that knocks him off of his feet.

Now here’s where things get different from the usual romantic plotline—->

you have all of these friends that cause or stop trouble between them.

And you have TWO MAJOR EVENTS that rock everyone’s world (including mine).

Book One was an emotional roller coaster ride.

You’ll need to light some candles for this book and maybe have a bottle of wine resting next to you.

Book 2 in the A Lot Like Love series picks up in college. There are a lot of new things going on. We have our hero who is struggling with a new level of football and a secret that goes viral. I would say this book had me shaking my head a lot at the hero.

I mean. . .

Luke??

Brother??

For real?

Then we had an unexpected triangle that I enjoyed, but made me tense as hell. I mean I loved the other love interest, but. . .I opened the book for My Couple.

therefore, I pretty much stressed the last half of the book and went back and forth on what I wanted.

Needless to say there is a happy ending and the book is full of hot, angsty romance that deals with real issues for college freshmen. I definitely see a book 3 on the way due to a certain person not winning the love triangle.

Book Review: He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker

Sadly, this wasn’t

my favorite from K.A. Tucker.

3 stars. 🙁

It could be because I bought the novel from

the romance section in the bookstore, but

this is not a romance.

Had I known this was more of a

sensual cozy mystery,

I probably would’ve enjoyed it much more.

The whole time I kept waiting to fall in love

with a dark alpha and found myself singing,

“Where’s the love?”

It also took a hundred pages to

get me to care about the mystery.

Super slow beginning.

Some sex, but not really descriptive.

That being said, I fuck with Tucker’s books all day.

I’ll be checking out some of her other works soon.

Book Review: Rainshadow Road

 4 Stars for sure.

In Rainshadow Road we get to escape to an island

and follow the months of a new love.

While the subplot with the bitchy

sister got a little soap opera,

I found the story engaging and sexy.

There was some paranormal elements that seemed thrown into the story and not really explored. If taken out the story still would not have changed. So I think the whole abilities part came out of left pocket so I took a star away. Other than that, I will def be reading more from this author.

Inside Look: Theirs to Crave

I came.
Climaxed.
Exploded.
Lost my breath.
Lost my sight.
Went numb and then full of pleasure.

All of those things and more.

An orgasm out of this world,
and he’d did it with his fingers in a few fucking seconds.

What did that mean?
Did he know my body that well
or was he too much for me to handle?

Not stopping,
he toyed with my sex more.
And the orgasm poured over me.
And I knew that I was his
as I bucked into his hands,
begging him to give me more.

Name: Crusher
Job: Noah’s main bodyguard

Note: He’s also the main character in the bonus novella at the end of the novel. 🙂

Excerpt from the novel Power:

They treated CRUSHER like a monster, so that was what he became.

But I knew the truth—Crusher was a freaking romantic and big Disney musical fiend. He had three stuffed dwarfs that he slept with and if he couldn’t find them, he wouldn’t go to sleep.

Mary Jane, a struggling comedienne, stumbled into the wrong club at the wrong time. She didn’t notice the gangster gripping the gun and the two scary men on his sides. She just jumped on the stage, tested the microphone, and went into her routine.

And that’s where things got interesting.

Noah was the gangster that gripped the gun. The Beast of Din City. The Boss of the Streets. The one who ruled them all from the North to the South. Not liking to murder women, he’d now been thrown into an uncomfortable situation. She’d accidentally become a witness to something she shouldn’t have seen.

She’d now become a problem.

Yet, their gazes met and hearts faltered, thump, thumping in their chest like a tune beat out from bullets slicing through the air and bodies crashing to the ground.

Their gazes met and things would never be the same for him or her, nor the Streets. Their gazes met and he decided not to kill her, instead he took her on a journey where sex meets the rhythm of the streets, high to low, smooth to rough, growing inside of them both until they’re not sure, if any of them will survive—him, her, or those bloody streets.
