I don’t read much YA and NA, so when I do. . .
it should be Sexy and Smart as hell.
The A Lot Like Love series really
grabbed me and kept my attention!
(Without giving away mega spoilers)
In Book One a new love begins between an alpha football player
who has really really really had a rough childhood.
This cutey meets an unlikely (yet quirky) girl that knocks him off of his feet.
Now here’s where things get different from the usual romantic plotline—->
you have all of these friends that cause or stop trouble between them.
And you have TWO MAJOR EVENTS that rock everyone’s world (including mine).
Book One was an emotional roller coaster ride.
You’ll need to light some candles for this book and maybe have a bottle of wine resting next to you.
Book 2 in the A Lot Like Love series picks up in college. There are a lot of new things going on. We have our hero who is struggling with a new level of football and a secret that goes viral. I would say this book had me shaking my head a lot at the hero.
I mean. . .
Then we had an unexpected triangle that I enjoyed, but made me tense as hell. I mean I loved the other love interest, but. . .I opened the book for My Couple.
therefore, I pretty much stressed the last half of the book and went back and forth on what I wanted.
Needless to say there is a happy ending and the book is full of hot, angsty romance that deals with real issues for college freshmen. I definitely see a book 3 on the way due to a certain person not winning the love triangle.
Although over three hundred pages,
this was a quick read.
Lots and lots of sex.
There were times when I wanted
them to take a nap or get something to eat.
I know the poor heroine had to be exhausted
after the author finished the book.
The actual suspense part of the plot kicked in
toward the end of Act Two.
By then I’d been so satiated and dripping with
sperm that I barely followed
the thrill of the small mystery.
By the end of the novel,
I was intrigued by a little twist
in the mystery
and some more sex. . .
Over all I give it 3.5 stars due to
the sex overloading and exhausting me.
Additionally, it shocked me that
the heroine was a virgin
and got it in so much in the beginning.
That being said. . .
this is my new go-to author for erotic romance.
Loved her sex scenes.
She draws you into the heat
and doesn’t let go until your burning on fire.
When the Smoke Clears is free!
He was a fire starter.
I didn’t care that he wore a firefighter uniform.
He was a fire starter.
And as soon as our gazes met, he set a blaze through my body.
Just released from the mental hospital for shooting her ex-husband, Kassie is in no mood to date men. Now a newly single mother, she’s focused on raising her son. She also has to get her career as an author back on track and rediscover her passion for romance writing.
Kassie has things to do.
But Lorenzo comes into her life. A gorgeous fire fighter who isn’t accustomed to hearing the word no. He’s more than a heated distraction. He’s an erotic inferno of lust and everything sizzling.
The chase begins.
Neither are ready. There’s too much at stake for both of them. They’ve both been broken and betrayed. Both misused and abused.
Yet sensual flames surround them. Desire burns and twists with wet kisses on a moonlit beach. And they’re both caught up in a passionate chaos. And they’re both intoxicated with the other. Hot sex ignites into something more. And both are wondering, who will be standing when the smoke clears?
The man with the brooding hazel eyes that seemed to change color based on his mood, an old soul, and a perfect butt.
So we have a sort of Dark Best Friends with Benefits situation.
He left me sore and feeling used, hot semen running down my legs as he tucked himself away and zipped up.
She’d been my best friend since I was a little kid–and now she was my f#ck toy.
So. . .
I enjoyed this book, but gave it 3.5 stars due to 2 reasons:
- I wanted more!! (Yes, I know (to my readers) I’m one to talk about a book being too short. Well, I get it now! Next three books will be super long!)
- (WARNING: SPOILER-ish) I believe if two scenes were in the book then it would have been a 5 star novel. These are the two scenes we should’ve saw, instead of been told about:
Funeral Sex Scene put at the beginning of the book.
Storm Scene where the Hero has the breakthrough to change his ways.
I think with those additions this novel would’ve been a 5 star golden ticket read.
Other than that I enjoyed the story. I love Kendall Ryan’s stories and will always check out her books. It was a short read and complete for me in less than an hour.
